Does anyone know how to whiten EXTREMELY sensitive teeth?

laughalot asked:

Crest White Strips did the whitening but it also did the stripping! It took a lot of enamel off of my teeth making them very very sensitive, I had to cover my mouth just to inhale (even the warmest air was too “cold”). My dentist told me ZOOM whitening was out of the question because of that but I spent a lot of money on braces/retainers and want to maintain my nice smile. What should I do? I should also mention that I use prescription toothpaste (similar to Sensodyne but stronger) to prevent sensitivity. Help!

Can someone please offer some great tips to get whiter teeth without harming them?

Violet asked:

I’ve always had nice white teeth *knock on wood* and I noticed that lately they are looking a little on the dull side. I don’t want to try those at home whitening kits because they do weaken your tooth enamel and your teeth become more prone to sensitivity. I don’t smoke or drink coffee/wine. I also do brush my teeth 2-3 times a day. All tips are welcome and thanks in advance.

Teeth Whitening?

whatever asked:

okay, so i want to get my teeth whitened by the dentist. not one of those take home trays or strips. just bleached. and i was wondering…does it hurt?

also, if my teeth get sensitive it is only the back teeth. this won’t affect the sensitivity right? cause i heard that they don’t bleach the back teeth.

please answer both of my questions!

Zoom Teeth Whitening Blisters?

I_M_N_Pain asked:

I went in 4 days ago to get the Zoom Tooth Whitening System. I was in very much discomfort during the hour session and paid because I was so happy to get out of there, my dilema is that I told the receptionist when I left that my lips were very swollen. I went home and put ice on the swelling. The desntist told me to expect tooth sensitivity. He never mentioned anything about burns and blisters and serious possibilities to infection. I just wanted a quick fix. By the evening of the first day, my lip had swollen 3 times it’s size. It was so painful, I couldn’t even lift the top lip to look inside.
I called the dentist and he told me to just put Vitamin E on the gums and that maybe the gel got on my lips. By that night, I was in so much pain. I have been gargling with warm salt water 4x a day since then for 4 days now and applying Vitamin E to both the lips and gums. The blisters and skin fold has still not healed!

Equate Whitening Strips?

blonde_freak19 asked:

Okay..I’m starting to get worried. I’ve used these strips for about three days and it says not to brush your teeth before using them because of gum sensitivity. My teeth have only certain white spots on them and I’m not really seeing any results. No, I don’t brush my teeth before using them because I’m trying to follow the directions. I am also rising my mouth with water before putting the strips on. What should I do?? Should I buy a different brand..will this help blend in the spots? Ahh..my teeth look so bad. Please help!

Sensitivity with dental crown on molar?

chnchita asked:

Last month, I had a crown put on a bottom molar that already had a filling. The tooth had cracked. The dentist shaved down the tooth a bit, kept the filling in tact, but now I’m having huge sensitivity issues when I eat/drink. Eating yogurt, or cereal, or cold water, or wine….hurts. It’s exactly like when I had my temporary crown on and could feel *everything*. (FYI – I require blocks for any dental work). I currently use a whitening toothpaste, but wonder if I need to stop that and switch to Sensodyne. I really don’t want to go back to the dentist (have been there five times in two months. But if I need a different cement under my crown, I’ll go in to make this irritation stop!
