Teeth whitening for sensitive teeth?

yvonne a asked:

SO I’m pretty compulsive about having a B1 (white) smile. I used to use crest whitestrips some years ago, and only once every few days.

My teeth/gums are SO sensitive now though i’m not sure what whitening system to buy. I’ve tried go-smile touch ups, which do nothing, nautral white gel thats super cheap and doesnt do too much either….

recommendations on whitening strips, trays, etc, that REALLY work and DO NOT give sensitivity?

Can I use mouthwash with Crest Sensitivity?

Travis asked:

Hi, I used Crest Whitening Strips (Premium) last night and was surprised by the horrible pain my front 4 lower teeth went through. I read up on it and apparently a lot of people experience this due to sensitive teeth, so I went and bought Crest Sensitivity toothpaste. I’m going to use this for a couple of days before trying the strips again.

I was just wondering if it is safe to use mouthwash with this kind of toothpaste? I know that it is supposed to help build more protection around your teeth, which is exciting, and I don’t know if mouthwash (crest pro-health) will mess with the toothpaste’s efforts or not. Can someone please enlighten me?

Whitening Strips?

♥Lovely asked:

i just bought rembrandt (sp?) whitening strips and used them for the first time. i had them on for about 10 minutes and i suddenly got a jolt of pain in my lower left teeth. it said if any sensitivity occured to take them off, but the pain didn’t even last long enough for me to stand up. so i left them on. a few minutes later it happened again and once again went away within a second or so (the pain was on the same side). then a couple minutes later i felt a jolt of pain on my lower right side that again went away quickly but i decided to take them off.

i had no pain on my top teeth and once i took the strips off nothing has been wrong… i rinsed my mouth with water and brushed my teeth and felt no sensitivity

question is: is it ok to use them as long as there is no continuous pain or should i discontinue use completely?

safe, painless tooth-whitening?

Prove It Or Lose It! asked:

I would like to whiten my teeth but I have heard horror stories of tooth-whitening treatments causing pretty bad tooth pain and sensitivity. Is there such a thing as tooth-whitening that doesn’t hurt and also won’t irritate/damage gums?

Thanks!

does crest white strips daily multi care work?

someone asked:

So I basically just got my braces off yesterday and my teeth aren’t as white as they used to be. So I thought of purchasing crest white strips from Costco, but the only one they had was the daily multi care ones. It was around $30-40 and I thought that was a rip off for something that has a much lower concentration than the $20 crest classic. It also came with vivid white toothpaste. I guess my teeth aren’t THAT yellow but I do want some type of noticeable difference. I definitely don’t want to try the premium ones because I don’t want my teeth to become really sensitive. I’m kind of scared to use the premium ones.
How long should I use these for? Is it bad if I use it every single day until it runs out? And if I later want to purchase the crest white strips classic, how long does the teeth sensitivity last? Also, (haha lots of questions) how long should I wait after using these strips to switch to a stronger one? Should I ask my dentist before I use any kind of teeth whitening strips

Teeth sensitivity due to Opalescence whitening gel?

Cinnamon asked:

Yesterday my orthodontist gave me some Opalescence whitening gel to put in my retainers. He put them in at my appointment and I wore them for about 3 hours before taking them out to eat dinner. No problems there. Last night before going to bed, I put more of the gel in my retainers and wore them all night. Today when I went to eat lunch, one of my top teeth began hurting so bad, I couldn’t even finish eating! I was eating some chicken strips and drinking a soda. What caused the teeth to hurt, was it wearing the gel all night? Should I only wear it for a couple hours during the day? Sorry this is long and thanks in advance for the help.

Painful sensitivity in a filling?

Ryan P asked:

I got fillings in the second and third to last molars on the top left side of my mouth (not counting the wisdom teeth I got removed) about three or four months ago and since then they’ve been extremely sensitive to hot, cold and sweet. I can’t chew on that side any more. The fillings I got that same day on the right side are better, but still a little sensitive. I got concerned when I used Crest whitening mouth wash the other day and the pain was like normal at first, just sensitive to cold, but it didn’t go away for several minutes and I ended up having to sit down. When I’m not eating anything, there’s a feeling of pressure but I think that’s normal. The fillings are the silver ones, and I’m 17…. what’s up?
