Can tooth whitening toothpaste cause sensitivity in teeth?
Brooke22365 asked:
I started having trouble back in October. I went to the dentist, and he couldn’t find anything wrong with my teeth. He said wait a little bit and see if it gets better. I just realized that my probelm started after I started using Colgate toothpaste with tartar protection and whitening. I have been using Sensodyne since the problem started and have not been using the Colgate, and while things are a bit better, I still have pain.
Will it get better if I stop using it?

The whitening on toothpastes and teeth cleanings can make your teeth sensitive because theres a bleach type substance that causes the sensitiveness.

yes because in order to whiten your teeth it decays the foul-colored enamil, which makes less of a tooth and clsoer to the nerves

Most of the time the toothpaste whitens your teeth by using an abrasive. That means they are scraping the surface of your teeth to make them look whiter. This can cause sensitivity.

Absolutely. It is a major cause. There are some good toothpastes for sensitive teeth. You can alternate – that might help.

Yes, it can. If you use the whitening toothpaste to much, it can dissolve the enamel on your teeth. Drink lots of flouridated water, or ask your dentist for a flouride treatment.
