Does sensitivity toothpaste reverse the effect of tooth whitening products?

missing9mins asked:

I am using Crest Whitestrips and my teeth are getting sensitive because of it. I picked up some generic sensodyne and am hoping it will help with the sensitivity. but do the ingredients of it cause my teeth whitening effects to be reversed/diminished? and will future whitening be reduced because of the sensodyne?

side note: are there any side effects to the sensodyne and how long does it take to be effective?

THANK YOU!!

No, and the side effects are it tastes horrific! I usually have to mix it with regular toothpaste to keep from gagging. It starts working within a week. I always have to use sensodyne after whitening.

There should not be any side effects and it will take about 2 weeks to get full results. The sensodyn should not interfere with future whitening or the whitening that you have just done. The toothpaste should help out a lot with your sensitivity.
