Gum Grafts?

andromeda032 asked:

My lower 4-6 teeth have significant receding. I have had severe crowding a couple years ago and after getting the teeth straightened out, that is when I noticed the gaps between the teeth and the “long teeth”. I have not had any sensitivity problems yet, but am worried about it. By the look of the teeth, it looks almost scary as how long the teeth are. For instance I was getting teeth whitening strips, and the height of the strip only covers a little over half of the length of the tooth.

Do you think insurance would cover it. If not what would be the cost roughly for the lower 4-6 teeth to have a gum graft. The rest of my gums are perfect and nowhere near close to be considered receding.

Some insurances do pay some on grafts, especially if it is significant enough. Really just depends on the insurance. Find a good periodontist. Check with your dentist to see who he/she recommends. You are usually looking at $1000-1500.
