I just had zoom whitening and am in AGONIZING pain?

balletballet asked:

The procedure finished up hours ago, but the EXTREME sensitivity, “zingers” (like electric shocks in your teeth) and non-stop aching are pretty much unbearable. Seriously unbearable. Just typing right now is making me cringe. This is like a form of torture.

Vicodin was prescribed beforehand- with motrin to be taken in between the vicodin. IT’S NOT TOUCHING THE PAIN.

My question, is there something stronger than vicodin my dentist could prescribe? I remember being prescribed vicodin when I had an infection (root canal was done right after) and it didn’t touch the pain either.

Please help. This is not the kind of tenderness and ache and pain you can just ignore or sleep off. This is total misery and I feel like I could pass out.

its the peroxide on the gum’s that is killing you, ohh the sensitivity is the killer , last for days, like if you got hit with a pipe in the mouth.

it will cease- it’s normal with Zoom… Though i would never again, just get the strips if you need to do it

    NOTE:

NO pain killers will ever touch the EXTREME sensitivity , your best bet to avoid extreme pain is keep your mouth closed, its the cool air hitting your teeth that brings on the pain.

I didn’t know teeth whitening could have painful after effects
    Wtf?
I’m sorry hun but you will have to talk to your dentist, just use a cold compress to your mouth for now.

Loratabs are pretty commonly prescribed, ask for a high does of ibuprofen too. If the pain is too terrible, go the the emergency room. They can administer IV drugs that can take effect almost instantly. Personally, I would go to the ER. I hope you feel well soon!

I don’t know about any product for that.
You should be very careful with the whitening products in the market, they are very aggressive towards the enamel of your teeth, I do not like to use any of those at all.

Talk to a dentist, and good luck!
