If I leave Crest Whitestrips on longer than the recommended time (30 min), will it make my teeth whiten faster?
worriedstudent asked:
I have very sensitive teeth, so I’d rather just leave the strips on for longer and endure the sensitivity for less days. I was wondering if I left the strips on, say, for an hour instead of 30min, twice a day, if it would be the same as 2 days worth of whitening, and then I could be done in 3 days instead of a week.

The potency of the whitening gel wears off, so wearing them longer is pointless.

no it will not make them whiter faster. if u have very sensitive teeth u should be careful with whitening. do not use acidic foods or juices during the whitening duration.(that week); try to use a flouride rinse before and after using whitestrips. good luck. also depending on the depth of the staining on ur teeth u might not get a drastic change in shade no matter how long u whiten. stay away from dark sodas and coffee and tea.

The active ingredient in most teeth bleach only bleaches for a limited time. Around 95% of the bleach efficency is found in the first 20-30 minutes. Leaving it in longer won’t really help you much.
If you are fired up to bleach quick then you need a higher concentration bleach – and that can only be found at your dentist. Over the counter is 8% – most professional bleach is 20% for take home and %35-40 for power bleaching.
Sit down – do the math and then consider if would be more economical with your pocket book and time to go to the dentist.
Good luck!
