Is there a method of teeth whitening that doesn’t cause unbearable sensitivity?

beachgirl asked:

I have tried colgate and polar night time whitening products, but they cause such bad sensitivity that I have to go to bed early the next day to escape the pain. Is there an effective alternative without the pain?

Other than giving up tea, coffee, kola, cigarettes, and all soda drinks, probably not. Some people saying rubbing the inside white part of a banana peal on your teeth will whiten them. But I don’t know if it works.
