My gums have receded & I have sensitivity at the top of one of my front teeth?

Gemma C asked:

Thing is I’m about to get married and want to whiten my teeth for the big day with the special gel from the dentist but get the feeling this will make my sensitivity worse and may ruin my teeth? Please help ASAP. Cheers Gemma

If you’re going to the dentist anyway, make an extra, earlier visit before you get your teeth whitened and discuss with your dentist. You have the option of having your dentist put something on the exposed area of your tooth which will protect it. This is only temporary — it wears off after 6 months or so, but it will help with sensitivity.

Also, start brushing with Sensodyne. And don’t rinse afterwards. Don’t drink liquids for 30 mins. after brushing with Sensodyne. This will help reduce sensitivity.

Its to do with your brushing habit…dont scrub, use small cirles to brush!!!If you are right handed, your left side is worse affected and vice versa!

Yes dont put anything on it will worsen the sensitity. Go see your dentist and he will be able to fully help you with the sensitivity and the tooth whitening.

For now use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth until you see him!!
