Teeth Whitening Strips?

joy asked:

I know a lot of you already use whitening strips, so I’m asking for your advice. I want to start using whitening strips. My teeth aren’t really bad at all; a lot of people actually give me wonderful comments on my smile all the time. I just feel that my teeth CAN be better. What whitening strips would you recommend? Which ones whiten the most? Which ones cause the least amount of sensitivity? Etc…

I use Equate brand, haha they’re cheap and work just as good as any other brand. Just switch to a sensitive toothpaste while youre using them

My friend used Crest whitening strips and got his teeth REALLY whitened.

I never asked him before until talk of teeth came up among us. I thought he went to the dentist to get it whitened… I was really surprised when he told me he used Crest!

I’m using that once my teeth get straightened up c:

Just use the Over The Counter Crest Whitening Strips. These strips don’t cause much sensitivity and if you do experience sensitivity — lower the frequency of your whitening routine.

Some can whiten everyday for weeks.. to their maximum ‘hue’ — Others have to dial it down to every other day, or once or twice a week — slowing the process but getting it done nonetheless due to sensitivity.

A tip for sensitivity — a good fluoride mouthrinse dilted 50/50 with warm water is excellent to rinse sensitive teeth with to speed the process of the enamel thickening and general pain lowering to normal. (If it occurs at all).

Crest also has a generic bleaching tray system now ( as does another company I believe) — If you find this, I recommend it , if the price isn’t too much more, because it makes the process a significant amount less tedious. Either way it is fairly easy to do.

Which ones whiten the most — The higher the Bleach — some form of peroxide .. ie: Cabamide Peroxide, percentage, the more effective. However the likelyhood of sensitivity is directly proportionate to the percentage of Peroxide and duration worn. Basically the higher the bleach the more likely it will cause sensitivity.. but is more effective. Makes sense though, no?

The most effective are non OTC varieties you would get from your dentist. Where they will make impressions of your teeth. Provide you with exact trays, and give your most commonly a 16% bleach — Sometimes providing 21% if they have it in stock, and they feel you won’t have problems with it. (21% is very strong)

You can’t have both — if you are going to be prone to sensitivity you will know it after a few times bleaching — and if so, you can’t have the ‘best’ and ‘the least sensitive’ if you follow the previous logic =)

I used to not have very sensitive teeth,.. but they are fairly sensitive to the 21% now. So I have to bleach much less often. So I think a fair amount of use of bleaching products can cause your teeth to become a bit more sensitive than they previously were over time. So might be a little cautious. Although the OTC products shouldn’t cause much worry in this department.

It all works, just give it time, be consistent — Don’t expect results in 30 minutes, even though often you see them in 30 minutes ;)

If your teeth are already that good looking, you probably can’t go an extreme amount whiter, but I’m sure you can maximize your smile as you are looking for — which shouldn’t require anything more than the weakest OTC product.

    Have fun!

The Crest Whitening Strips are what the Dentists at the office I work at always recommends to patients. They are effective and don’t cost a whole lot. Getting custom made trays at your dental office, as well as using their whitening solution would also be beneficial to you because it will allow them to monitor your improvement. Using whitening strips or solution can be harmful to you if you use it too often. They can cause translucency in the teeth, and break down the enamel making your teeth prone to cavities.

I hope this helped! Good luck!

i like listerine whitening strips. they taste yummy and they dont make me teeth super sensitive. i also like crest whitening strips-they work better but are a little harsher. not bad, though. and both are cheap
listerines easier though. it takes lik 15 mins and it dissolves completely.
