What is the best way to whiten your teeth if you have sensitivity?

Marcel S asked:

I have been trying to whiten my teeth with Crest WhiteStrips but quickly found out that my tooth sensitivity would prevent me from finishing with it. I have heard that using baking soda works, but I am just looking for the best way possible.

i would probably try baking soda bc you can just add that to ur regular toothpaste or mix it with water – but be careful not to use it long term or without the advice of ur dentist bc home things could damage ur teeth over time.

i would ask ur dentist what he thinks the best thing would be. i know that when i got my bleaching trays and gel from my dentist he said that sometimes placing some toothpaste for sensitive teeth into the trays (and/or brushing with it) can help with the sensitivity.

    hope this helps! =)

Almost all bleaching method cause tooth sensitivity, because what bleaching basically does, is it dries your tooth enamel.

Though i have noticed myself that whitening strips cause more sensitivity that custom tray bleaching made by your dentist.

The best way around this is to brush your teeth with a sensitivity toothpaste such as Sensodyne, or Crest Sensitive, or something similar for at least 1 – 2 weeks before using the whitening strips, Because it takes that long to notice the results from the anti-sensitivity toothpaste.

    Hope this helps
